Protect the protest is a task force of nonprofit organisations that have long dealt with threats of “Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation” (SLAPPs). They have combined their expertise and collective power to protect the free speech of public interest advocates in the United States.

The task force provides resources and training for civil society organizations, community leaders, journalists, and the broader public on how to best protect themselves from SLAPPs and what to do if they’re targeted. They furthermore support public interest advocates and watchdogs targeted by SLAPPs through campaigns and legal defense where resources allow. They furthermore mobilise collective resources to protect the rights to free speech and peaceful protest and engage in advocacy to advance anti-SLAPP policies or laws.
